Any News?

Today, I'm going to take you all on a small trip down memory lane.

Several years back, the members of St. John's College, Cambridge University awoke to something of a travesty: their clock tower was hanging the colo(u)rs of their arch-rival, Trinity College.

While I won't claim any knowledge related to this event (the roof climbers of Cambridge are a secretive lot by necessity) and will happily admit that I can't even be blamed for taking this picture, several similar events plagued the university during my time there.  For days after this first main occurrence, though, came the incessant questioning of "Any news?"--everyone wondered if the perpetrators had been caught and punished.  For this was a "crime" punishable by a fate worse than death: Rustication (effectively expulsion).

If any of this has piqued your interest, an old (anonymous) friend wrote an essay for a competition they entered (anonymously--yes, they had no expectation of receiving the prize) around that time.  It gives lots of obfuscated details on roof climbing in Cambridge.  You can read it here.

As you might guess from this story, my time in Cambridge was fairly interesting.  If I get bored or if enough people pester me to do so, I do have some old pictures and memories stored up that I can post (those that survived the numerous hard drive crashes and similar since those days).
